The issue resolved itself after several hours and people were able to activate their keys. There also was a maintenance for some of the servers this weekend. I purchased Alice:Madness Returns last week, when it was on sale for 75%-off. I just tried to play the game today, and am met with a very frustrating situation. The verification system always responds with either 'System Error.

Please try again later.' OR 'The product key entered cannot be used to activate this game.' The key difference seems to be in the format used in entering the key.
I get the 'cannot be used' error if I enter the key with spaces between each string of characters, and any other format gets the 'System Error' message. Either way, the game is not activated, and I cannot play it.
I'm not happy at all, as this seems to be an ongoing issue with EA games in general. Please help me get this game working! Incidentally, if you want proof that I have purchased the game, look for my Steam profile, RavenFB. You can see the game in my library. Looks like we're in the same boat. I have to wonder, since we both ran into this problem around the same time frame on the same day, if this isn't an issue with the verification server. I hope that's all it is.
It's frustrating, but temporary. If this isn't the case, then we may have run into an issue with our codes either being invalid/incorrect, or already used (either by typographical error, or 'code generator'.) I hope to get this resolved very soon.
Every time I run into an issue like this makes me substantially less likely to buy an EA game in the future, if for no other reason than to avoid being prevented from using software that I paid money for due to some stupid DRM issues. Definitely in the same boat, I hope one of us get a reply sometime very soon. It must just be an odd issue that spontaneously occurred today, I would hope our codes are okay otherwise EA better retrieve some for us because I this is a fairly large inconvenience for me (I wasted a long time today trying to figure this out). Lets hope so!
Me too, I bought it via steam because I didn't think I'd have to deal with a bunch of passwords, accounts, and codes like I have to with everything else. Maybe I should contact the community manager that seems to be answering all Alice-related questions?
